Activities having a detrimental impact on water resources can be regulated by declaring them to be controlled activities:
    Irrigation of any land using waste or water containing waste generated through any industrial activity or by a waterwork
    Any activity aimed at the modification of atmospheric precipitation
    Altering the flow regime of a water resource as a result of a power generation activity
    Aquifer recharge using water or water containing waste
    Any activity as such declared that is likely to impact detrimentally on a water resource
