Introduction
On Friday 28 April 2006, members of the Resilience Alliance (www.resalliance.org) presented an open symposium at the SANBI Biodiversity Centre in Pretoria. The symposium focussed on "re-organisation and management of complex social-ecological systems: global and southern African perspectives." Approximately 120 delegates listened to the presentations and participated in the discussions.
